ILES students who "got in the game" and completed their Summer Reading Logs are getting rewards for their efforts over summer break!
ILES reading guru Fisherwoman Frieda threw out the first pitch during a Summer Reading Celebration recently. She recapped why it is important to practice reading all summer, just like you practice baseball and other sports, to keep your skills sharp!
ILES reading teacher Elaine Jacobs reports that dozens of first through fifth graders turned in completed reading logs indicating they read at least 30 times over the summer.
Students who turned in the logs got to choose a new book, enjoy an extra recess and grab a favorite candy bar. Students who are new to the district and didn't have a chance to complete the log got a Laker Zone bracelet and round of applause.
