After graduating from Indian Lake High School in 1989, I attended Otterbein College where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with certification in first through eighth grades. I received my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Management from Wright State University in 2009.  I began teaching 6th and 7th grades at Indian Lake in 1994.  I then traveled to Suzuka, Japan through a sister city teaching exchange where I taught English to Japanese junior high school students for a year.  After returning from Japan, I began at Lakeview Elementary, moved to Huntsville Elementary, and then moved to our current elementary building where I have taught 2nd grade to the present.  I am married to my husband, Rick and have two adult children, Emma and Colin.  Emma is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Colin is currently a junior at OSU.  All four of the Powers family members are graduates of Indian Lake High School.  I owned a ballet studio for 10 years along with teaching school, but  am now retired from that.  I'm enjoying a little more time boating, gardening, and being with family.
