This is the image for the news article titled Summer Reading Kick-OffILES students are encouraged to keep their eye on the ball and read books over the summer break.
Reading Gurus “Fisherwoman Frieda” and “Eartha Worm” held a Summer Reading Assembly recently to give kids ideas of what, when and where to read.
Eartha told Frieda she recently visited all the Major League Ball Parks across the country. She explained how baseball is like reading because you have to focus, figure things out and comprehend what is happening.
With sponsorship from the ILES PTO and the Little Laker Bookstore, students were able to choose two books to take home.
Ball players who read 30 books and turn in the Summer Reading Log will get special treats in the fall including a new book, candy, an extra recess and more!
If students lose the log they were given, they can print another or just keep track of what they read on a piece of notebook paper. The logs must be turned in the first or second day of school.
