Indian Lake Elementary School is kicking off Read Across America Week in honor of Dr. Seuss by stop dropping and reading a good book!
On Monday, students carried a book everywhere they went in the school in anticipation of "drop everything and read!" Whether they were in the cafeteria, gym class, art class or a regular class, when Mrs. Hall came over the announcements, they stopped what they were doing and read for five minutes. This happened three times!
Other activities for the week include:

Tuesday 2/26: Read a Shirt Day- Wear a shirt that others can read.

Wednesday 2/27: Line the Halls and Read- At 2:30, we will join together in the hall and all read together for 15 minutes.

Thursday 2/28: Hats off to Reading- Wear your favorite hat to celebrate reading!

Friday 3/1: Celebrity Reader Day - Local celebrities will join us and read for students in each classroom.

In addition, ILES is holding a door-decorating contest throughout the week.  Each classroom is asked to choose a reading/book theme and decorate their door. Students must be involved in this process in some way.  1st place in each grade level will receive donuts and bookmarks.

Students will receive a reading challenge sheet.  If they complete 4 reading challenges for the week and bring back the paper with parent signatures, they will receive a $2.00 coupon to be used at the Little Laker Bookstore held on Friday, March 8.
