During Fire Prevention Month, ILES students got the unique opportunity to learn about fire safety from some animals who really know what's hot! Kasey and Carmel from the Kasey Safety Program visited Lakers recently with their handler.
The Kasey Safety Program is a unique initiative that combines
entertainment with education to teach
children about fire safety.
Founded by Jeff Owens in 1995, the program uses black Labrador Retrievers to demonstrate
essential fire safety skills such as "stop, drop, and roll," checking doors for heat, and
crawling under smoke. The program is designed
for children from preschool to 6th grade and has
been credited with saving lives by preventing fire-related incidents. The Kasey Program is a non-profit organization that reaches approximately
400,000 children annually and has been touring
the United States since its inception. It is sponsored by Koorsen Fire & Security from Carmel, Indiana and is recognized as one of the only nationally
touring fire prevention programs in the country.
