ILES second graders are getting a quick course in cursive writing from some high school Government students.
Earlier this year, several ILHS junior students in Mr. Ed Rogers class worked on their cursive writing signatures as part of a study on our nation's important archive documents. The lesson became a contest to see who had the best cursive handwriting. The winners earned the right introduce second graders to cursive.
After practicing their letters, the high schoolers led two cursive writing camps at ILES recently. Mr. Rogers gave each second grader a special "fountain pen" to use. Then the upperclassmen helped the kiddos learn to write their first and last names. They focused on letter shape and keeping the pen on the paper to properly connect the letters. It was down "write" fun!
ILES second graders are normally introduced to cursive writing during the last quarter of the school year.
