Sarah Beres's second graders are currently making a  point of "being the best version of themselves."

Beres says early on in the school year, some of her students were struggling with being kind to others. So they brainstormed a list of people they could show kindness to and encourage. Since then, they have been completing weekly "Kindness Missions" to spread kindness through the second grade and the school.

One week they chalked kind words at the two exits of the building so that students and staff had encouraging notes to read as they boarded busses or got into their cars. Another week, they made posters encouraging the student body and hung them around the elementary school. Students also brought in treats and wrote encouraging notes on them, then passed them out to the janitors, office staff, cafeteria staff, teaching staff, and the MH classroom and Resource Room students. Finally, they invited the whole MH Unit room to join the class for an end of the week dance party featuring the Chicken Dance, Baby Shark, Limbo, Hokey Pokey and more. Keep up the kind work!
