The crowd of former military members at Indian Lake Elementary School's Veterans Day Recognition included two World War II veterans.

Army Veteran Bill Guthrie and Naval veteran Allie Schrader both took part in the second annual event at ILES.
Fourth graders joined more than 30 veterans and their spouses outside as members of the Charles Collins Post 381 Women's Auxiliary in Huntsville helped students raise the flag. They all said the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Star Spangled Banner.
Then everyone went inside, where the entire student body lined the halls waving flags for an ILES "clap around. " Veterans walked through the cheering crowd, giving hugs and high fives.
Guthrie, a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, was moved. He said, "This is fun! They're (the students) are really pumped up!"
To conclude the ILES Veterans Day Recognition event, veterans and their ILES family members met in the cafeteria for a reception.
Allie Schrader was able to eat cookies with his granddaughter, ILES Co-Principal Molly Hall, and several great grandchildren who attend school.
Veterans shared information about their time in the service and posed for pictures.
